Resource Centre

Karen Kankkunen
Teacher-Librarian

Julie Castle
Library Aide

The primary role of the teacher-librarian is to assist students and teachers to get maximum benefit out of the resource centre. This includes: -

* Developing a school resource collection that supports the school curriculum and the interests of the school community.

* Working to develop students, individually or in classes, to develop the information literacy skills necessary for students to become independent and lifelong learners.

* Networking with organisations outside the school community so as to expand the options available to students and teachers in their learning and teaching.

* Promoting a positive approach to libraries and their role in education and the wider community.

Whenever students are in the Library whether in class or independently - they can get help from the T/L or library assistant. Students with specific learning needs may also access the Learning Support staff who are based in the library. The learning support team and teacher-librarian may also work with teachers in class supporting students.

Resource Centre HELP!!

The Resource Centre is seeking Mums or Dads who wish to volunteer an amount of time suitable to you. Work could include covering books, shelving, organising magazines and desk work. This is an excellent way to get to know some of the staff and be involved. If you are interested, please contact Julie Castle on 3804 2339.
