VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Subjects containing Vocation Education and Training (VET) means a Certificate is embedded in the course either as stand-alone, as part of an Authority subject or Authority-registered subject (Study Area Specifications – SASs).

Windaroo Valley SHS has a number of VET subjects on offer which include:

  • Certificate I in General Construction
  • Certificate II in Business
  • Certificate II in Sport and Recreation
  • Certificate I in Work Education
  • Certificate I in Hospitality (Operations) – Core Competencies
  • Certificate I in IT
  • Certificate II in IT
  • Certificate I in Retail
  • Certificate II in Retail

(Please note the subject may not be named after the certificate – for example BCT has the Certificate II in Business embedded)

To enable the school to offer these course they must be a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) with the course approved by the Queensland Studies Authority QSA) or the Department of Employment and Training (DET) for Certificate III and above courses.  They will then appear on our Scope of Registration.

To remain compliant and be able to continue offering these courses we follow the Australian Quality Framework (AQTF) standards.  This ensures all certificates and statements of attainment are recognised Australia wide.  The rules and regulations we follow are set out in the Quality Manual, VET Staff Handbook and VET Student Handbook.

Completion of all competencies or modules results in the awarding of a Certificate.  If at least one but not all competencies or modules are completed then a Statement of Attainment is awarded.

Students should complete work placement for each course they are enrolled in.  Placement usually occurs in five day blocks, either all together or one day per week.  A minimum of two placements per course is expected to be completed.
